Morning Prayers based on Hymn 214 (CH4) V1

Verse 1

New every morning is the love

Our wakening and uprising prove,

Through sleep and darkness safely brought,

Restored to life, and power, and thought.

                                                            John Keble (1792-1866)

“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust.

Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”

Psalm 143 v8

Gracious Heavenly Father, the Keeper of our souls:

Humbly bowing in reverence before you this day,

Lifting up our voice in praise and thanksgiving.

For your love in our hearts, your wisdom in our minds,

That we may live to the honour and glory of your holy name.

We commend into your all-loving care our dear ones.

Those near to us and those apart from us.

Those we see often and those we seldom see.

Lord in your mercy hear these our prayers.

We remember all our neighbours within our community,

Especially those who are old and vulnerable;

Those who are confined to their homes, those who are in care.

Our thoughts turn to those who are young and perhaps confused by all that is going on at the moment. Schools closed, exams cancelled, anxious as to how this will turn out for them.

Our hearts go out to all who have lost their employment or a reduction in their income, those who have bills, mortgages and commitments to meet unsure how they are going to make ends meet.

Lord in your mercy, hear these our prayers.    Amen.
