Morning Prayers based on Hymn 214 (CH4) V3

Verse 3

If, on our daily course, our mind

Be set to hallow all we find

New treasures still, of countless price,

God will provide for sacrifice.

                                                            John Keble (1792-1866)

“The Lord said to Moses, “Now I am going to make food rain down from the sky for all of you. The people must go out every day and gather enough for that day. On the sixth day they are to bring in twice as much as usual and prepare it. Every morning each one gathered as much as he needed.” Exodus 16:4,5 & 21

Almighty God: our great Provider,

Who has promised us in your Holy Word, “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease”. Genesis 8:22

We thank you for the unfailing way in which you fulfil that promise, day by day in our lives.

In this time of crisis, we see people at their best and at their worst:

those who for the sake of others, are giving of their best and using their skills to combat this deadly virus, in hospitals, in surgeries, in pharmacies and in scientific research laboratories.

While we hear of others who are selfishly hoarding up for themselves while others are going without; failing to respect and be concerned for their neighbour.

Lord in your mercy, forgive us our trespasses.

Enable us this day to ‘hallow all we find’ and not to separate the sacred from the secular; to keep ever day holy.

Accept these our prayers which we offer in and through the precious name of Jesus, our Saviour and Lord. Amen
