Stephen Clancy (known as “The Urban Historian”) is currently running a 2-year project recording and telling the stories of the heritage graveyards in Renfrewshire.
As part of the project, Stephen will be conducting a tour of our Church graveyard on Saturday, 18 July from 1:00 pm to 2.30 pm. Members (and anyone else interested) are invited to book a free place on this tour which promises stories of thread, war, and witchcraft. If the tour is fully subscribed, Stephen will be happy to offer an additional tour between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm.
We intend to have the Church and car park open in the afternoon of 18 July and offer teas and coffee to tour participants. We also hope to display items of historical interest associated with the Church during the afternoon.
The project website is www.heritagebuddies.uk and the graveyard tours can be booked atwww.theurbanhistorian.co.uk/book-an-event
Background
“Heritage Buddies – Where Buddies Rest: Stories Rise” is a 2-year Renfrewshire Council funded project where we are recording the Heritage graveyards by creating new lair plans, recording each existing memorial, transcribing each memorial, and then researching a selection of those interred.
